Remembering David Bowie

After battling for over a year, David Bowie lost his battle with cancer at the age of 69. Bowie was everything from a musician, actor, and fashion icon. He has been a huge influence on performers today such as Lady Gaga, U2, and even Kanye West. Bowie had just released his new album “Blackstar” on his birthday, January 8th, only 3 days prior to his death. The amount of influence David Bowie had on popular culture cannot be ignored. Bowie could quite arguably be named one of the first to try out the style of androgyny with his alter ego “Ziggy Stardust” on the big stage and be successful.

David Bowie’s long-time friend and producer Tony Visconti said that “Blackstar” was Bowie’s “parting gift to the world.” It appears that Bowie knew his life was coming to an end with his farewells to friend Sir Paul McCartney, thanking him for all their great times spent together. As sad as it may be, Bowie is said to have passed away peacefully in his sleep. In honor of his memory, here are a few of the unforgettable roles we will always think of when David Bowie is mentioned.
